Eager point ‘n’ click fans awaiting the return of the Monkey Island franchise will be pleased to hear that the seafaring adventure series has set a date for its grand comeback. As revealed by Devolver Digital at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Return to Monkey Island will launch on PC and Nintendo Switch on September 19, which is, incidentally, “Talk Like a Pirate Day”!

Players can pre-order the title now on both platforms, which will give them access to exclusive in-game Horse Armor. Here’s the big ol’ joke: It Doesn’t Actually Do Anything. Still, if you fancy having an item hanging around your inventory in true LucasArts fashion — then be sure to get your pre-order locked in right now.

Series creator Ron Gilbert said that he’s “totally going to pre-order [the game] to get Stan’s sweet sweet horse armor. You’d think as a dev I could just hack it in, but it doesn’t work that way. NDA’s, physics, programming, math, bla, bla, bla.”

Co-writer/designer Dave Grossman, art director Rex Crowle (Tearaway), and composers Peter McConnell, Michael Land, and Clint Bajakian (Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge) are also on board for Return to Monkey Island.

Return to Monkey Island launches on PC and Nintendo Switch on September 19. Arrrr!
