Age of Conan director leaves Funcom, Anarchy Online director given the reins

Age of Conan director Gaute Godager has taken his leave from Funcom and a replacement has already been found in former Anarchy Online director Craig Morrison. Godager explains his departure in a statement:

I have done my very best making this fabulous game, but I have concluded there are elements which I am dissatisfied with. I have decided to act on this, and as a result I have chosen to leave Funcom. It is time to get new, fresh eyes on Age of Conan, and I wholeheartedly support the appointment of Craig.

As far as we can tell Godager wasn’t caught trying to cyber with players in AoC, so his parting words must be genuine. Personally, I haven’t had the opportunity to play AoC yet but I’ve been hearing that it has suffered from a lack of support. If the Xbox 360 version is still being kicked around after this switch I’ll hopefully be able to get my hands on it then – preferably with all the bugs ironed out.

What do you guys think? Does the game need a fresh analysis and a new approach? Is an Anarchy Online guy going to bring the right solutions to the issues in AoC?
