EIEIO 2008: Insecticide delivered to the PC in “bisodic” format

Maybe you’ve never heard of Crackpot Entertainment, but maybe you’ve heard of the games that some of the team have worked on. Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit The Road, and Curse of Monkey Island. For fans of the adventure genre, these titles a synonymous with “classic.”

Crackpot hope to bring the same quality and memorable moments to the Nintendo DS and PC this year, with their original property, Insecticide. An action-adventure game set in a world where bugs have become the dominant race, Insecticide follows the adventures of detective Chrys Liszt and her awesomely-named partner, Roachy Caruthers. Gameplay-wise, Crackpot hopes missing third-person action adventure with traditional point-and-click adventure sequences will make a tasty treat for gamers starved for interesting, story-driven content.

The Nintendo DS version of Insecticide shipped this week (available now!), and I’ve already played through it for the review which will be up on Monday. The PC version of the game follows the same story as the handheld, only it will be split into two episodes (as Crackpot call it, “bisodic”) that will be available for download … eventually. The official Web site says it will be available in February, but hey look at that — it’s March!
