Rumor: Game Freak could announce Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes on Pokemon Day

Well, I guess we’ll wait for February 27

We’re nearly through the “remake-verse,” as it were, with mainline Pokemon generations: if this rumored project comes to fruition (it probably will one day, the real question is whether or not it’s this year).

We’ve trekked through Red, Blue, Gold, Silver, Ruby, and Sapphire all over again, but according to a report from Centro Pokemon, Diamond and Pearl might be coming as soon as 2021 on Switch. If that happens, the next remakes on the slate would be the Black and White games (1+2), and at that point we’re nearly into the modern era with X & Y.

But back to Diamond and Pearl for a second. Centro Pokemon states that “according to sources close to the company,” the pair of remakes will be announced on February 27 next month, which also serves as “Pokemon Day” and the 25th anniversary of the series. Based on the report, the remakes will come this year.

Hey, that doesn’t sound too far-fetched, but anyone could have made this prediction at any point past the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes in 2014 and possibly been right. We do know big announcements are coming this year either way, so it’s time to just grab that salt shaker and wait.
