Pokemon Home is out now, offers a bonus Pikachu and Kanto starting creature, plus 35 new Pokemon to transfer

So, Pokemon Home is out, and there’s a lot to unpack.

Home, in case you missed it, is the new generational (read: Sword and Shield) transfer app for Switch and mobile devices that replaces the 3DS-bound Bank. To help ease into this new transition, said Bank is free for a month, but you still have to pay for the premium edition of Home. Just remember: Home is the new home for transferring. Lame, I know.

As a bonus for picking up Home, you’ll be granted a free Pikachu and a Generation 1 starter (Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur), which start at level five. A pro tip if you haven’t beaten Sword and Shield yet: you get a free Charmander after you beat the game. Make sure you choose something else, unless you have the other two already and have some weird training plan for this particular Charmander!

Another Home bonus: you can now transfer 35 new Pokemon into Sword and Shield from your Bank (or wherever else you get your creatures outside of Pokemon Go, which will get support “later this year”). Here’s the full list thanks to Serebii.net, which includes Alolan forms.
