Publisher Focus Home Interactive, along with developer Saber Interactive, has proudly announced that their co-op zombie shooter, World War Z, has already surpassed one million sales since its launch just last week. The multiplayer release also managed to debut at the top of the UK Charts.

World War Z, based on the book and movie of the same name, pits teams of players against swarms of zombies, in gameplay reminiscent of the iconic Left 4 Dead series. World War Z received mixed reviews in the press, but that hasn’t apparently stopped the shooter from making bank, surprising even some of its own producers.

In a press release, Saber CEO Matthew Karch said that the title had performed far better outside of the U.S. than expected, and was pleased with the successful launch. “Saber is extremely thrilled by the performance of the game on all platforms,” said Karch. “On the PC specifically, we are performing way above expectations thanks to the support we have received from the Epic Games Store”.

World War Z is available now on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
