If there’s one thing that’s been pretty popular at Gamescom this week, it’s extended gameplay videos. Paradox Interactive are no different, and have released a near 30-minute showcase for their gothic RPG sequel Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2, courtesy of IGN.

Based on the hugely-successful White Wolf franchise, Bloodlines 2 is the sequel fans have been craving for since the release of the original Bloodlines back in 2004. Bloodlines 2 will once again allow players to walk the night as a custom-designed character, interacting with members of Full-Blood factions, completing tasks and favours, learning Disciplines (The Masquerade’s form of specialised skills and abilities) all while maintaining the order’s secrecy, not to mention preventing your own downward spiral into a frenzied, bloodsucking psychopath.

Bloodlines 2 still looks a little rough around the edges, but the brand’s style and atmosphere is on display. The combat animations are quite stiff, but the lighting and effects are looking good. Hopefully, over the coming months, developer Hardsuit Labs will continue to fine-tune Bloodlines 2, ultimately delivering an immersive and addictive experience for the creatures of the night.

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 launches in 2020 on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
