You’ll be able to merge your Fortnite accounts next year

It was supposed to happen this month

Epic Games had planned to let Fortnite players merge their accounts this month, but the system needs more work than originally anticipated. Citing “ongoing technical concerns,” the developer has come up with a new release window for account merging: the ever-familiar “early next year.”

Is the merge system even that big of a deal? Well, depending on which platforms you play Fortnite on, you might’ve been impacted by Sony’s poor decision to (until recently) restrict cross-play. Many people were forced to create separate accounts if, say, they wanted to have Fortnite on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The situation felt equal parts unfortunate and unnecessary. It’s still baffling.

Once the merge feature is ready, you can “combine multiple console-linked accounts to transfer Battle Royale cosmetic item purchases, lifetime wins, V-Bucks, and Save the World campaign access.”

That’s going to feel so satisfying.
