As we approach the launch of SNK’s great-looking Samurai Shodown, the once-weekly character trailers seem to be hurriedly hitting us faster and faster, with today’s new short previewing old-school samurai Jubei Yagyu.

Jubei made his debut in the original Samurai Shodown, a wandering ronin who has left his clan to pursue a path of enlightenment. Still proud of his heritage with the Tokugawa clan, Jubei continues to train younger warriors in the ways of the samurai, hoping that they will keep the clan’s honour and spirit alive in his absence.

Despite his calm and peaceful nature, Jubei is undeniably a ferocious and highly-skilled opponent in battle. Wielding dual katana, Jubei is equally adept at controlling space, close-quarters flurries, anti-air attacks and powerful dual-slashes, making him a very solid all-round character and a good choice for beginners.

Samurai Shodown launches on June 25 for PS4 and Xbox One. PC and Nintendo Switch ports will follow this Winter.
