World War Z does that zombie pile-on thing to summit the UK Charts

Undead shooter surprises with chart glory

In news I didn’t think I’d be reporting today, Saber Interactive’s World War Z has managed to debut in the number one spot of the UK Charts. The sleeper title released last week to some mixed reviews, but that hasn’t stopped it from pushing past mainstays like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 to take the top spot.

Also debuting in the Top Ten – at number nine – is Maximum Games’ Snooker ’19: The Official Video Game. No doubt picked up by folks who fancied potting a tricky pink this bank holiday weekend. Team17’s charming farm adventure My Time at Portia also debuted at number 27, expected for a somewhat niche title.

Elsewhere in the charts, re-entries were made by EA’s Anthem at number 15 and Square Enix’ Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster at number 20. Tune in next week where, without a doubt, Mortal Kombat 11 will find itself sitting snugly at the top of the charts. But for now, kudos to you, World War Z, kudos.
