The only thing missing is narration from David Attenborough
āBe careful on what you put in your mouth, in general. You may be poisoned.ā
These are words to live by from Patrice DĆ©silets, creative director of Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The Assassin Creed creatorās new third-person adventure is āgetting closer to release,ā and that means itās finally coming into focus. Panache Digital shared the first in a series of overview videos today.
This trailer is about exploration, while the next two will cover expanding territory and evolution.
Set 10 million years ago at the ādawn of humankind,ā Ancestors is an exploration-driven survival game about being āobservant, careful, agile and wise.ā When it comes down to it, itās really a game about eating and not being eaten (or, uh, poisoned). Youāll grow your clan, pass down knowledge from generation to generation, and evolve over millions of years. My Tokyo Jungle senses are tingling.
āThese videos are here to scratch the surface of the main pillars of the game without spoiling anything for you,ā according to DĆ©silets. āI truly believe that discovering something for the first time is part of what makes this game unique and exciting. Thatās why we say āGood luck, we wonāt help you much!'ā
The footage in and of itself doesnāt look particularly eye-catching, but Iām still on board knowing that weāve seen only bits and pieces and thereās a larger, more interesting concept at hand. It sounds fascinating on paper, at least. I hope Ancestors turns out well and people are willing to take a chance.
