Overwatch anniversary event date and new Junkrat skin revealed

More skin reveals soon

As of next week, Overwatch will have been out for two years. As I’ve said several times it feels like it just came out, and it’s hard to believe that the PC edition has been updated with tons of free content for $40 at launch — loot box shenanigans (however you may feel about it) not included. I’ve gotten a lot of playtime out of it.

Blizzard is once again celebrating the anniversary of the game, and starting on May 22 through June 11 you’ll be able to partake in a new special event on every platform. It’ll bring 50 cosmetic items into the fray, as well as another deathmatch map called Petra. All the old items will also be coming back to scoop up for the limited window.

The most important news however is the expansion of the deathmatch mode — Blizzard promises “placement matches, skill rating tiers, and leaderboards” for the event. There’s also going to be a free weekend event from May 25 until May 28. If you’re on PS4, PS+ is not required according to Blizzard. Oh, and a “Legendary Edition” is coming on May 22 with “Legendary, Epic and Origin skins for a total of 15 skins with purchase.”

If you want to check out the new leaked Junkrat skin from the Brazilian Overwatch Twitter, you can find the mirrored video here.
