Hope it involves German suplexes and smashing bicycles

The gangsters of Kamurocho have barely begun picking their teeth up from the floor in the wake of the week’s Yakuza 6 release, but the developers are already making strides on exciting new titles.

Speaking in this week’s issue of Famitsu, Sega Sammy boss Haruki Satomi revealed that the Yakuza team have already begun work on an all-new game. Remaining tight-lipped on the whole affair, we didn’t get any further info on this venture, although Satomi also stated that the company is hoping to “challenge new IPs on all platforms” in the future.

The Yakuza games, although relatively samey, have always had consistently great gameplay, fun and varied side-attractions, great music and some of the best directed cutscenes in the industry. Hopefully this level of excellence will be transferred to whatever the new project is. I, for one, am very excited to see what the guys and gals of Yakuza Studio have planned for the future.

Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is available now on PS4.
