Calling all Dreamcast junkies: Soul Calibur to hit Live Arcade in HD

Recommended Videos

Even though the Dreamcast couldn’t sustain profit in the marketplace, it featured some of the best videogames ever produced and remains as one of the greatest consoles to date. Comparisons have been made between the Dreamcast and the Xbox 360 before, and rightfully so.

Many of our favorites (more recently, Ikaruga) have been ported to the 360 in one form or another, with the latest being the first Soul Calibur. It may sound too good to be true, but according to a press briefing by Namco Bandai, it isn’t.

Soul Calibur on Xbox Live Arcade will be presented in all its original glory, and then some. Not only will we get every mode from the Dreamcast version, there will also be online leaderboards and get this — the entire game will be in high-definition.

Because the excitement of this news has no doubt caused you to soil yourself, I’m going to make this short. The fact that there’s no online multiplayer angers me to no end, but as long as the XBLA port plays like the Dreamcast version and looks phenomenal in HD, it’ll be a “DO WANT” for sure.
