You can microwave a dinner in the amount of time it takes Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 to load

Possibly two

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 certainly looks impressive, but I guess all that graphical prowess has to come at some cost. According to a recent video from Eurogamer, the latest installment in the upcoming wish fulfillment series has an initial load time of around five minutes on PS4. I could literally microwave two bowls of oatmeal in that amount of time or nuke a Hungry-man TV dinner and have time left to grab a drink.

Just to note, Eurogamer only tested the PS4 version of the game, so the PC or Xbox One ports may actually have a lesser (or lengthier) load process. Still, that is some insane PS1 levels of nonsense on offer, but developer CI Games responded to Eurogamer with an explanation.

“We are aware of the problem with long initial loading times, but thanks to this decision,” they stated, “we were able to shorten any loading times during missions, respawns, and fast travel to a minimum. Ultimately we feel like this inconvenience is rewarded with a comfortable experience once the game is loaded.”

They note that fast travel in-game is kept to around 15 seconds at max, mission restarts are 25 seconds and loading a checkpoint will only set you back 30 seconds at max. I don’t know that dealing with such a prolonged startup is worth it for a “comfortable experience”, since something like Bloodborne has roughly the same load times while not taking five minutes to boot.
