Your PC doesn’t need to be as powerful as a Krogan to run Mass Effect: Andromeda

Yeah yeah, Krogans are strong; we get it

Anyone looking to blast off to Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s universe next month needs to know if their rocket can even get off the ground. Don’t worry, space cadets; there’s no need for a super-futuristic rig to travel to worlds beyond.

Today, EA released the minimum and recommended PC specs for running Mass Effect: Andromeda. Here’s the baseline requirements needed to get the game up and going:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 3570
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Hard drive space: 55GB

Of course, that’s just the bare minimum. For an ideal Andromeda experience, you’ll need:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX 8350
  • Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790
  • Memory: 16GB RAM
  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
  • DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent
  • Hard drive space: 55GB

If this exact setup rings a bell, it’s maybe because the specs are almost identical to Battlefield 1‘s requirements. Also, both are running on the Frostbite 3 engine. That might be an indication of good things to come, as Battlefield 1 was one of the more well-optimized games in recent memory. We’ll see if Ryder and crew have equally smooth sailing.
