Starting today you can pre-order a digital copy of Shenmue III for PC from the Shenmue.link website. It also appears to not be too late to pledge for one of the many goals to obtain various benefits such as a physical copy, capsule toys, and in-game messages. If you’re thinking “I want to put $29 down for this final chapter, but first I really have to see three more images and a forklift,” then director Yu Suzuki has your back. Three new images feature forklift and cow toys, kicks to the face, and a very Japanese Shrine entrance, however they are described as “works-in-progress and subject to change.”

Specific information on development was also detailed. The team is working on the main scenarios and also beginning both motion capture and voice tests. It’s ridiculous to say, but Shenmue won’t feel right without stilted animations and horrible voice acting. At least the role of protagonist Ryo Hazuki will be reprised by Corey Marshall, who has a pretty cool name minus an extra “e.”

Working on improving mini-games, events, and battles, Suzuki says “I have been completely absorbed in development Shenmue III recently, and often stay at the studio throughout the night to make it the best game possible. My life has become Shenmue both day and night, and I’m happy.”

With regard to reward preferences for backers who paid for certain pledge goals, YSnet will be rolling out Backer Surverys sometime in the summer of 2017.
