Hyper Light Drifter Wii U and Vita versions have been canned

Refunds being offered

Back in February, we told you the Wii U port of the beautifully epic Hyper Light Drifter was in limbo due to issues with the game engine running natively on the console. There was hope the port would still come out, albeit at a later date than the other versions. Unfortunately, those hopes have been dashed.

Heart Machine’s Alex Preston posted a video for Kickstarter backers explaining the Wii U and the Vita versions have both been canceled. Preston says this is due to issues with the GameMaker engine – the one currently in a Humble Bundle – running on both these platforms. According to Preston, porting the game to the two systems would require rebuilding it from the ground up.

Disappointing news for those Wii U and Vita owners who were waiting on this game. For those who did back the Kickstarter campaign and selected either of these platforms, new keys are being offered for one of the other versions. Backers can also get a refund if they so choose.
