You should set up two-step verification for PlayStation Network

I’ve heard horror stories of people losing access to their PlayStation Network accounts because of a weak password, unfortunate luck, or whatever the case may be, and while those nightmare scenarios don’t exactly keep me up at night, they do have a tendency to dig at my mind from time to time.

Thankfully, Sony is now offering two-step verification for PSN. Everyone should!

You can set that up here in your browser or, if you’re within reach of your PlayStation 4, go to the following menus: Settings > PlayStation Network/Account Management > Account Information > Security > 2-Step Verification. You’ll just need to provide a phone number that can receive texts.

With that extra layer of security, even if someone nabs your account login info, they’d still need to access your verification code, which means they would also need your phone.

Make sure to get those backup codes, too, and keep them somewhere secure. They can be a life-saver.
