Anyone can play the new Doom DLC if you’re invited by a friend who has it

It’s the ‘PartyPlay System’

Doom DLC doesn’t really interest me (the base game was fine on its own), but Bethesda is doing a few cool things with it that have me perked up.

The new Unto the Evil pack was released yesterday in honor of QuakeCon 2016, and it brings three new multiplayer maps, a new weapon (UAC EMG Pistol), the Kinetic Mine, a Harvester demon, new outfits, and the “PartyPlay System.” The latter bit is pretty cool, in that it allows anyone to play the DLC for free as long as you’re in a party with a friend who owns it.

I have zero interest in regularly playing Doom‘s multiplayer (I kind of shrugged it off at launch after several rounds), but the way DLC is being handled gives me pause. I think I’ll check it out, because I really dig that Harvester demon design.
