Wireless 360 Rock Band Fender spotted at Spike Video Game Awards

Recommended Videos

We’ll be posting all of the celeb-packed red carpet photos of the 5th Annual Spike Video Game awards shortly (Mr. Destructoid even made an appearance!), so keep your pants on.

But of note on the red carpet was the live demonstration of the Xbox 360 version of Harmonix’s Rock Band. While celebrities and various game developers made their way out to the bulb flashes of dozens of ravenous photographers, the worst Rock Band players Spike could find provided the tunes. But it wasn’t until our own Charlie Suh began snapping photos of Chuck‘s Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez (performing Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So”) that we noticed something was missing. You guessed it — these controllers had no wires.

It’s no surprise that Harmonix will be releasing wireless Fender guitar peripherals next year, but this is (as far as we know) the first time they’ve been seen in the wild. Unfortunately, like a Big Daddy to a Little Sister, people with headsets and clipboards wouldn’t let us get near the console to inspect the details. Wireless dongle? Proprietary Microsoft wireless technology? We’ll touch base with Harmonix to find out, and let you know when we snag some more info.
