The Origin store is running a site-wide 30 percent off promo code. Yay! But before you bust out the wallet for Battlefield 1 or Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, think again. The discount is rather restrictive for a “site-wide” coupon. You won’t be able to knock discounts off upcoming pre-orders, nor will you be able to pick up Mass Effect 3 DLC for cheap (that ship has long sailed, guys) — and the code doesn’t seem to work on third-party publisher games either (The Witcher 3 is 50 percent off this week on Origin).

So what’s the point of the discount code? That’s where your pal Dealzon comes in. In short, only a few select titles are worth considering. Everything else has been cheaper before by instant discount.

Dragon Age: Inquisition‘s GOTY edition is now at a historic low, along with its base game. Other than these two, the main things worth picking up — and this is a niche base — is if you’re a Star Wars Battlefront and The Sims 4 fan. If you enjoy either of those titles, you’re in luck. The Battlefront Season Pass is finally discounted thanks to this coupon, and so are a bunch of The Sims 4‘s Expansion Packs, DLC, and “stuff.”
