Red Dead Redemption 2 is huge, looks like a prequel story

Map leak hints at era and area

Much of Red Dead Redemption‘s theme owes itself to its setting, not in the heyday of cowboy-ism, but nearer to the end of Manifest Destiny. It’s why John Marston is working for government men in the first place. But it looks like Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 will throw things in reverse.

An off screen photo of a map, allegedly of Red Dead Redemption 2, leaked last week. A source has since confirmed to Tech Radar that it is a “very recent” art direction map for a new Red Dead. Additionally, this map is just east of the map from the original game (you can see the overlap of the Tall Trees and Great Plains areas from RDR) and the new game will actually be a prequel, which means we’re in close enough proximity for characters from the original game to show up.

MrTibbs did a pretty bang up recreation below. Like in Grand Theft Auto V, swimming might be an option this time around (old ass boats, too?). You can also see things on the map’s key like towns, settlements, caravan camps, gang hideouts, landmarks, homesteads and robbery locations. There’s even an Alcatraz-like prison island, which I am down with.

This is the map you’ll be playing in Red Dead Redemption 2 [Tech Radar]
