Todd Howard clarifies ‘three long-term’ Bethesda projects comment

Simplified, Bethesda is working on more than usual

Out of DICE last month we reported that Bethesda has three “big” and “different” projects in development, as noted by studio head and Fallout 4 director Todd Howard. The notion that the developer was working on three “long-term” projects simultaneously doesn’t quite jive with how Bethesda typically develops.

Today, speaking to GI.biz, Howard clarified, explaining that putting a number on it probably did the opposite of add clarity and insight, and that the company has “so many things” going on.

“I should have never said a number because we have so many things. You could add it up in different ways. You could say it’s bigger or smaller. They’re a long way off. We just have more going on now than we had before.”

There are no plans for Bethesda to announce any of these things “anytime soon.”

“We have the Montreal studio now and we’re going to be doing different things,” Howard said. “We feel we have a pretty good footing and we’re in a particular place and time where we can try some new things and be confident that they’ll find some success.”
