Sonic Mania’s opening animation is just perfect

It’s out next week

Sonic Mania, so far, has a way of hitting us with a specific chord of nostalgia that doesn’t feel desperate. Christian Whitehead, a longtime Sonic fangame developer that eventually started working directly with Sega, knows what he’s doing. With him as the backbone of the project Sega has followed suit, with a wonderful original soundtrack and now this adorable opening animation from director Tyson Hesse.

It has me pining for the old days when catching the [best iteration] cartoon was part of my morning routine. Sonic Mania is out on August 15 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Expect our review around then!
