New Mario Kart 8 Deluxe patch fixes an annoying online play bug

Lobby issues

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is one of those games you can pick up and play pretty much at any time. Whether I’m by myself trying to best a time trial or friends come over and want to play a random Switch game, I’m usually there humming the theme song (and doing air guitar for the solo). But like all Nintendo games online play can be a little wonky, an issue that they’re hammering out brick by brick.

Nintendo just announced that patch 1.2.1 has gone out for Deluxe, fixing one sole issue that “prolonged the time to return to the lobby after races near the start and end times of online tournaments.” I’ve had this happen and just chalked it up to Nintendo infrastructure, but it’s good to hear that it’s fixed, at least in theory.
