Be on the look out for lil dicks
Ubisoft has cut a new trailer for next month’s Far Cry Primal, which you can read about in-depth over at Brett’s preview from last month. The short of it: Far Cry‘s wanton violence contextualized in the brutal Stone Age instead of with some other weird conceit.
And here’s Takkar, who arrives in Oros with his Wenja tribe at risk because of the three warring factions fighting over the land. “They are being attacked by both the cannibals of the Udam tribe, led by the cruel warrior Ull, and the fire worshipers of the Izila tribe, led by the high priestess Batari.”
I’m a bit burnt out on the entire Ubisoft genre — it may never reach “Metroidvania” heights, but it’s still amazing to me how fundamentally and superficially similar so many of Ubisoft’s games are, especially because the whole Rayman/Child of Light/Valiant Hearts exploratory era seems to be over. And I didn’t find Far Crys 3 and 4 as engaging as 2 already. But Ubisoft knows how to cut a trailer. This is stylish as heck, with nice purples and reds again adding something to the natural environment.
Plus some dude got his head ate by a saber-toothed tiger. Primal‘s coming February 23 to consoles, March 1 to PC.
