Naughty Dog will try something new with Nathan Drake’s adventures in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End — a story outside of the base game’s story. Earlier this week, the developer detailed Uncharted 4‘s downloadable content, and it includes the series’ first-ever single-player add-on.

At GameStop Expo, Naughty Dog spoke with Kinda Funny and GameSpot to explain why it finally opted to go this route. “It worked really well for us for The Last of Us. We thought we could put together a really great piece of content as well [for Uncharted 4],” Naughty Dog’s Arne Meyer said.

Meyer went on to infer that the experience working on The Last of Us: Left Behind gave the studio the confidence to try it again. “I think we rose to the challenge for The Last of Us, so we decided we’re going to take another shot at it.” It also helps that Naughty Dog finally found a way that it believes makes sense for Uncharted to have single-player DLC.
