Super cute word puzzler Alphabear out today on iOS and Android

Gotta collect ’em all!

I’ve had my eye on Alphabear since seeing the art director tweet out some pictures of the cute bears featured in the game, as shown in the video above. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it trending on Twitter after having been released earlier today.

The game is a word building puzzler on iOS and Android devices that is free-to-play, but don’t let that scare you off. After playing for about an hour or so I’ve finally hit the point where I need to wait a bit to play more or give the developer money — which I’m considering.

The microtransactions are for honeycombs (used to enter levels) and coins (used to wake up sleeping bears). Bears can be unlocked by scoring high enough in levels and daily events; they grant different perks, such as a higher score, and more frequency of certain letters. Unlimited honeycomb can be bought for $4.99 thus allowing unlimited play and the ability to earn coins faster since they can be earned by completing levels.

Alphabear can be downloaded from Google Play or the iTunes App Store for free.
