Why yes, I would like an NES Zapper in Splatoon

Too good to be true?

This supposed image of the Prima strategy guide for Splatoon shows some curious weapons including, oh my god, NES Zappers. The names even reflect the light guns’ release years!

Is this stuff real? One of the weapons, the Inkbrush, is definitely legitimate. It was demonstrated during a Nintendo Direct and will make it into the game via download. Whether or not these other guns will have the same fate remains to be seen. The guide releases tomorrow.

While we wait, go read the Iwata Asks for Splatoon. It covers the team’s struggle to come up with the kid/squid characters, which began life as tofu and were at one point humanoid rabbits.
