You can link your accounts to import Steam games into GOG.com

Might as well!

Here’s an unexpected but much-appreciated thing: it’s now possible to bring applicable games you own on Steam into your GOG.com account at no extra charge. Here are the current supported titles:

  • Bit.Trip Runner
  • Braid
  • Breach & Clear
  • Breach & Clear: Deadline
  • Broken Sword: Director’s Cut
  • FTL: Advanced Edition
  • Galactic Civilizations III
  • Mount & Blade
  • Project Zomboid
  • Saint’s Row 2
  • Shadowrun Returns
  • Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring
  • The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
  • The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
  • The Witness
  • To the Moon
  • Trine: Enchanted Edition
  • Two Worlds
  • Unreal Gold
  • Unreal Tournament GOTY
  • VVVVVV
  • Xenonauts

This new imitative is called GOG Connect. While you can permanently import these Steam games, the ability to do so is time-limited, with more becoming available at later dates. For this first batch, you have five days to redeem your copies, though generally the “duration will vary from game to game.”

In most cases, your save files will be compatible across the two platforms, though “Keep in mind that your Steam cloud saves will not be automatically transferred or backed up.”

And, to be clear, not every game that is on Steam and GOG.com will take advantage of Connect. “We can only make a selection of games eligible depending on various agreements with our partners,” reads the site. “You’ll always be able to find an up-to-date list of eligible titles on this page.”
