M4G interviews Heavenly Sword composer Nitin Sawhney

Music4Games has posted an interview with Nitin Sawhney, the composer of Sony/Ninja Theory’s upcoming PS3 title Heavenly Sword.

From the very little we’ve seen of the title, Heavenly Sword seems packed with musical goodness, but it turns out that we haven’t seen (or heard) anything yet. Sawhney says that he composed over three hours of music for the game, working with orchestras in both London and Prague over the course of more than a year.

He also talks about the inspirations behind his score and work:

I was inspired by brilliant animation and film composers from Bernard Herman and Ennio Morricone to Gustavo Santaolalla, John Williams and Danny Elfman.  Also God and Dean Barrat’s (the sound engineer/ editor) hairstyle. To be honest, the emotions and characterisation of the game are so self-evident that the score all but wrote itself.

Aside from being a solid composer, it turns out that Sawhney is also a producer, songwriter, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist. Oh, and he’s a total natural as far as interviews go. What a badass — I hate him!
