‘Surprise single’ by folk rock nerd to be included in The Orange Box

You must be some kind of monster if you felt like Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 weren’t enough. But to sweeten the deal, and appease the angry mobs of value-driven gamers, Valve have crammed yet another thing into The Orange Box

Today, Valve revealed that they have asked folk rock Internet super-nerd, Jonathan Coulton, to pen a “surprise single” to be included in the already massive The Orange Box. Coulton is thrilled, calling the opportunity “every geek’s dream.”

Don’t worry if you don’t know who Coulton is, either. Despite the fact that I skillfully wrote that last paragraph like I’m “in the know,” I don’t have a clue. Regardless, the addition of this Coulton dude’s song doesn’t make me any less excited about The Orange Box (which is available on October 10 for the PC and Xbox 360). In fact, by association, Coulton may now be one of my favorite ex-computer programmer Internet nerd folk rock singer-songwriters.

Good job, Valve.
