Obvious: Metal Gear Solid 4 may not be Kojima’s last run with Solid Snake

In a recent phone interview with Next Generation, Konami’s new marketing VP Anthony Crouts reveals what we (in our hearts) already knew: Hideo Kojima and Solid Snake are BFF.

“I’m sure he’s never going to let go of Metal Gear Solid—trust me. [Snake’s] a big character, so as a franchise I think he’ll always hold it near and dear to his heart.

”In one capacity or another, he will always be involved in the Metal Gear franchise.”

Kojima has explicitly stated that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be the last entry in the series, but Crouts and Konami’s bank account apparently are saying otherwise. This would not be the first time Kojima has fallen off the Snake-wagon — the super-developer had said the same thing about Metal Gear Solid 3 … and then we saw a revamped version of that title, an announced sequel, a separate online game, a mobile phone game, and what seems like an endless supply of PlayStation Portable titles.

Kojima and Snake do make a cute couple, though, don’t they?
