Good luck not buying the limited edition amiibos

You know you need them

Sometimes Nintendo gets all business savvy and makes it so you can’t help but fork your money over. Given how highly anticipated amiibos are, that’ll likely be the case when they arrive on store shelves in November. With the confirmation of special edition amiibos, that purchasing inclination will reach a whole different level.

At Nintendo’s recent financial briefing, president Satoru Iwata revealed that the company’s approach to the figurines would be two-pronged. There will be staple amiibos that are always available, and there will be limited editions that will “cede their positions to new ones once they are sold out.”

With this announcement, amiibos may have just made the leap from neat knick-knack to collector’s item. It’ll be interesting to see exactly how “limited” Nintendo gets with some of the figurines, and what the resale market turns into. One thing’s certain — demand will be high.
