Battalion 1944 hits 200% funding on Kickstarter with three weeks remaining

Good to see the genre make a comeback

I’ve been having a bit of a binge on World War II FPS games recently. Mainly Valve’s massively underappreciated Day of Defeat: Source, but also a bit of Medal of Honor: Airborne here and there. It’s a shame the genre kind of died due to oversaturation, as I personally much prefer it to the near-future cyber-bee guff we get now.

Fortunately, Battalion 1944 is doing rather well for itself on Kickstarter. Inspired by games like Call of Duty 2 and the decent Medal of Honor games, Battalion managed to hit its funding goal of £100,000 in just three days.

Last week it then blasted through its second goal and managed to hit 200% funding with still about three weeks remaining. Right now the game is sitting at £225,000 with 17 days to go.

While I don’t back Kickstarter campaigns anymore, I really hope we see more of Battalion soon. WW2 FPS is a genre that seriously needs to make a comeback, and judging from the pre-alpha gameplay things are already looking great. Who knows what £200,000 can do?

Battalion 1944 is due to be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
