Rumor: Oblivion PSP cancelled

Word from Kotaku is rumor that Bethesda Softworks has decided to delay, or even permanently cancel the upcoming PlayStation Portable version of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. The whispers coming from an unnamed source are that the team working on the game (Climax) have been plagued with production and scheduling problems.

While the game was originally scheduled for a Spring 2007 release, retailer GameStop is now showing a much later December 2007 ship date. Destructoid contacted Bethesda for comment, and despite one threat and an attempt at blackmail, they ain’t talkin’ about the PSP game right now. It seems that if anything, all signs are pointing to a delay, not a cancellation, but we’ll keep you posted.

The PSP version of Oblvion is part of the series of mobile games, Elder Scrolls Travels, and was said to be more focused on dungeon-crawling as opposed to wide-open exploration.
