We’ll see what happens

[Update: Versus Evil, a marketing firm representing Stoic, states that the console ports are still happening, but didn’t go into further detail other than noting that a launch date would be announced “soon.”]

What started out as one of the first really big Kickstarter campaigns is now a fully realized game with Banner Saga, complete with a beautiful art style and a soundtrack from composer Austin Wintory. Two years later and developer Stoic has big plans for the series, but it seems like said plans don’t involve their prior 2015 window. Previously, both Banner Saga 2 and the PS4 and Vita ports of the original game were set to drop sometime this year, but according to Eurogamer, they will miss both targets.

An Xbox One version is also in development, but also doesn’t have any window in sight. In fact, Eurogamer notes that the ports may have been canceled entirely, as they were told that the “next release” would be Banner Saga 2, and not the console ports. We’ve reached out to Stoic for comment.
