Der Riese returns for Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Not included in the standard game

Treyarch sure has made good use of its “Der Riese” map.

The Zombies level first appeared in Call of Duty: World at War, then it was revitalized for Black Ops, and now it’s back again in Black Ops III (but only for folks who buy one of the special editions of the game or the season pass, and only on PC, PS4, and Xbox One).

Under its new form, the map is “The Giant,” which is just a translation of the original name. Anyway: Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen are back, and so are those damned hellhounds.

I’d like to see Zombies spun off into a standalone release, but I don’t see that happening currently.

Earlier this month, Treyarch’s Jason Blundell told Eurogamer that “while it’s a lovely sentiment,” the studio sees “people move between all three modes” and wants it all packaged together.
