Ex-Criterion folks have plans for a Burnout spiritual successor

‘Speed. Traffic. And crashing.’

Our beloved Burnout was in the news earlier this week and here it is again. Criterion stated that it’s not working on an HD collection for the series because it’s too busy with “newer, even better things.” Now, Three Fields Entertainment is saying it will make a spiritual successor. Eventually.

Criterion founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry started Three Fields back in 2014. They’re currently making a multiplayer sports game, their first, due next spring. Once that’s wrapped up, the team will get started on a driving game. “What sort of driving game you ask? A spiritual successor. Speed. Traffic. And Crashing. Lots and lots of crashing.”

Tweets have poured in with ideas about what the project could and should look like. I’m sure you have some. Me? As much as I did like Paradise, yeah, I’d want a return to earlier Burnout games.
