Perseus 230 looks like the Star Fox game I’ve been wanting for years

Inspired by classics like Star Fox and Sin & Punishment

A new Star Fox game is about realistic as a new 2D Metroid game these days from Nintendo. So leave it to indies to capture the spirit of games from our youth. Whereas Axiom Verge is fulfilling our Metroid desires, Perseus 230 looks to be capturing our Star Fox dreams.

The four-man team is looking to create a space rail shooter for the PC/Mac that offers both single-player and multiplayer, inspired by classics like Star Fox and Sin & Punishment. Player ships will be customizable with hundreds of weapons and upgrade options, and yep, you can even freaking barrel roll to deflect shots. Up to three players can work together in local jump in/out co-op, or compete against each other in wormhole races.

The soundtrack is sounding pretty great based on the Kicstarter trailer, as award-winning musician The Algorithm is composing the tracks. The soundtrack infuses modern metal riffs with electronic sub-genres such as IDM, chiptune, and breakcore.

The team is looking to raise $29,000 to make Perseus 230 happen. Compared to most Kickstarters out there, the asking overall price to get this out the door is pretty small.
