Splatoon’s Rainmaker mode looks fantastic

I’m not usually one for capture the flag, and I’ve stayed away from Splatoon‘s ranked battles for the most part, but I’m loving the look of the upcoming Rainmaker mode. Teams compete to shatter the Rainmaker’s shields, then snag it and swim toward the enemy base. What’s the twist?

The coveted object is actually a weapon that fires ink like an Inkzooka. It can be charged, too.

“The closer you get to the enemy base while holding the Rainmaker, the lower your goal distance will drop. If you retreat too far while holding the Rainmaker, it’ll explode sooner! If the battle ends without anyone carrying the Rainmaker to the goal, the team with the lowest goal distance will win.”
