Unknown Worlds’ next game is Subnautica

Someone’s been spying on my dreams again

The studio behind Natural Selection 2 has started talking about its next big project, Subnautica. Described as “an open world, underwater exploration and construction game,” this wonderful-sounding game is very much in its early days. “Subnautica is not in ‘alpha,’ it is an idea that is just starting to be mouled into its first playable incarnations,” writes the team.

Concept art and selections from the soundtrack are being shared, as are descriptions of what’s sounding like a highly ambitious title. Players will be able to “design, construct, and crew submarine vessels” that can withstand harsh underwater environments and the bizarre creatures that are able to thrive in such areas. Gosh, it all sounds so great, though admittedly much is being left to our imaginations at this point in development.

That said, I’m glad to know such an interesting game concept is in capable hands.
