Top-down shooter Halo: Spartan Strike now available for $6

There’s a shiny new Halo game out today on Windows 8 devices, iOS, and Steam. Well, sort of.

Halo: Spartan Strike is another top-down shooter in the vein of Halo: Spartan Assault, which probably isn’t what you think about when someone says “Halo,” but was apparently pretty decent.

Destructoid’s reviews dad Chris Carter liked the first game well enough, but found its connection to the sci-fi mega franchise tenuous, saying it felt “like it could have been a completely new IP.”

Will things be better this time around? Microsoft sure hopes you’ll spend $6 to find out. The company promises a “compelling new story” plus improved touch controls and updated graphics.
