Rygar on the Wii a souped-up PS2 port?

Recommended Videos

The latest news coming out of IGN regarding Rygar on the Wii leaves me a little sad inside. Back in May, we reported that Tecmo made their first announcement at the “Nite Out” press event that the game was going to be a Wii exclusive. Well now it looks like the game that had quite a few of us were pumped up about is actually going to be ported from the PlayStation 2 — with a couple of updates added.

The updates include a battle mode called “Muscle Mode”, which has you wield the Wiimote to make use of the Diskarmor’s directional controls, including three special moves, which have not yet been expanded upon to the public. Additionally, Tecmo has redesigned the main character, enemies, added new monsters, and updated enemy positions. We have yet to learn if and how the single player game will make use of the updates, but will keep you posted as new information about the game unfolds. In the mean time, enjoy some screenshots from Famitsu, courtesy of GoNintendo.
