A zombie game featuring Jesus is a lot better than it sounds

Jesus puts the smack down in this strange arcade-like beat ’em up

In what looks like a mash-up of Monty Python’s Life of Brian with the low-budget special effects and gore seen in films like the Toxic Avenger, Spain-based Mutant Games brings us the Fist of Jesus — an arcade-style beat-’em-up in which in which you play as either the titular Jesus, or his sidekick Judas.

It’s as ridiculous as it sounds, and I’m loving every minute of it. Based on the short film of the same name, the premise is that something goes terribly wrong when Jesus attempts to bring Lazarus back from the dead. Instead of returning to the world of the living, Lazarus is inadvertently turned into a flesh-eating zombie. As you might have guessed, hilarity ensues.

This is just one of those games that is just too strange for me to pass by. Every now and again it’s nice to fire up a silly game without judging its technical merits or polish and just enjoy the weird for what it is. The gameplay actually doesn’t look half bad, either.
