PS4 dev says that Sony mandates Vita Remote Play

A PlayStation 4 developer that Eurogamer says has a proven track record for accuracy has told Digital Foundry that Vita Remote Play support has been mandated by Sony for all upcoming PS4 titles. Apparently the only ones off the hook are those that use the PS4 Eye. Watch out, Wii U GamePad!

If this is true, I have absolutely no problem with it. I really like the PlayStation Vita, but I really don’t like how support fell off after a strong launch. This feature will boost Vita use for those that own one, and might help system sales in the long run. More sold systems could equal more games.

The PS4 has hardware features made just for Remote Play support, so I’m hoping for something better than the spotty, janky version we saw with the PS3 and PSP. I hope Sony goes big with this. Sure, it’s extra work for devs, but it’s work that current Vita owners will definitely appreciate.
