Another EA closure: This is Ultima Forever’s final month

I’ll continue not playing it

Given that publisher Electronic Arts closed Mythic Entertainment earlier this year, it’s not unexpected to hear that the free-to-play mobile RPG Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar will also be shut down soon. Once it closes on August 29, the game will have lasted little more than year.

In this final month, Ultima Forever players can earn “significantly boosted” Virtue and Reputation rewards. The rate at which Gold keys drop has been upped, the in-game store is no longer selling real-money currency, and equipment degradation has been turned off. It’s a shame that it took something as drastic as this for these player-experience-enhancing changes to happen.

Goes to show: Don’t take your games (or your anything) for granted. “We’re all gonna die.”
