Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen spoke with CNBC where he revealed Flappy Bird will be coming back this August. The new version will add multiplayer, and will be less addictive than the original. Nguyen also said the original game has been downloaded more than 50 million times, a fact that almost made me burst out into tears just now.

In another interview, Nguyen described the multiplayer will be asynchronous, and he’s going to make the game less addicting by including a cool down timer after a user has played a certain amount of rounds in a row. Visually the game is changing as well, and won’t be using “simple pixel art anymore.” There will be new obstacles, new environments, and more playable characters too.

Finally, Nguyen teased his next game, which looks like a runner type game of sorts. So there’s that to look forward to, I guess.
