Everybody dies in this Dragon Quest X trailer

Wii U up-port is just about ready to touch down in Japan

This new Dragon Quest X trailer is brought to you by the concept of death. Death: the great inevitability for us all.

The opening seconds show the typical burning RPG village, all the motionless villagers strewn about, before an evil purple badass cuts a crescent-shaped rift in the sky that begins seeping a very foul miasma. Jump ahead a minute and our heroic party is now engaged in a montage of monster battles, paying back for all the innocent lives lost with even more bloodshed.

This Wii U up-port of the Wii MMO looks… well… like a Wii U up-port of a Wii game. But at least the graphics benefit from the extra sharpness. Dragon Quest X, which recently entered open beta in Japan, still hasn’t been announced for the West, but our pals in the East will be getting their Akira Toriyama on come March 30.
